Wow, electric delivery trucks.

A New York drug store has recently started using electric trucks to transport their products. Who knows how long it will be until we see auto shipping companies use electric ten car carriers. The company has always been known for being eco-friendly, but this move comes as a surprise to a lot of people. The trucks run on a Smith Electric Newton engine and is capable of driving 100 miles after an overnight charge with a carrying capacity of 16,000 lbs. While this isn’t nearly enough towing capacity for auto transporters, it’s a good first step, and with the rate that technology changes, we could be seeing electric-powered auto shippers sooner than we think.
